This year the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is celebrating 70 years of our Idaho affiliate. In leading up to our BIG celebration at our Annual Meeting in April, we will be highlighting our members and what they do as the ‘Nutrition Experts’ for our great state of Idaho. Today we are recognizing:
Gretchen Manker, MS, RDN, LD
University of Idaho FCS Extension Educator
As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, what do you do?
I am a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Educator for the University of Idaho Extension based in Jerome County. My program areas include health and nutrition, food safety and preservation, financial management and 4-H youth development. Currently, my focus related to health and nutrition is facilitating adult pre-diabetes prevention programs and “Cooking 101” classes for 4H youth and school enrichment programs. I also provide information on general food safety related topics and food-preservation questions. Another program area is in financial management related to simplifying your life in the areas of de-cluttering, organizing your financial papers and transferring non-titled property or “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate”. I am fortunate to work with youth on topics related to building credit and consumer decision making.
What are the benefits you have seen from your services in the Idaho community?
How can someone reach you to access your services?
I can be reached at (208) 324-7578 or gretchenm@uidaho.edu
Thank you Gretchen for all that you do for our great state of Idaho!
