In-Store Retail Dietitian for Albertsons
As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, what do you do?
I am the in-store dietitian for Albertsons new program called Answers in the Aisles™. It is the first of its kind in Boise and already a hit! The Answers in the Aisles™ program is designed to bring nutrition advice from an in-store dietitian directly to customers providing instant nutrition guidance. Located at the Eagle Albertsons, I provide personalized nutrition consults and MNT services for those with specific nutrition wants and needs (insurance coverage varies). Also, each month there is a variety of FREE nutrition workshops and supermarket tours covering topics such as, “Redesign You Gut”, “DASH Away High Blood Pressure”, “Living Gluten Free” and “Power up with Protein”. I am able to really connect with customers and help them apply the nutrition information as we talk in the aisles. I have the opportunity to work with our local community through TV and Radio broadcasting to help spread sound nutrition advice and showcase fun new products that can support healthy living choices. I am also available for Lunch & Learn opportunities for businesses and community groups. Lastly, I am now offering health screening assessments; get your Vitamin D, A1c or Lipids checked right in your neighborhood supermarket. A one stop shop for your health and wellness!
What are the benefits you have seen from your services in the Idaho community?
We have removed the barriers for people to access dietitians services. Being readily accessible in the store means they don’t have to go to several different appointments and locations to get expert nutrition guidance. Plus, it helps connect the knowledge with the application; being able to instantly demonstrate how to pick out foods and navigate the supermarket is a crucial piece. Customers are ecstatic they have the expertise of a RD available as they shop. There is so much nutrition information available on the internet and social media, shoppers are more confused than ever. It feels good to be able to dispel myths and help customers to build their confidence in choosing healthier items.
