This year the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is celebrating 70 years of our Idaho affiliate! As part of our celebration, we would like to recognize what Idaho Dietetic Interns and Students are doing and where they would like to go after the completion of their dietetic program.
Today, we are recognizing:
Jenna Bobroski
Student in the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Idaho State University
How did you become interested in nutrition?
I grew up as a dependent for the United State Air Force and was constantly moving around. My mother put my sisters and I in athletics for quick friends and a way to stay active. When I came to Idaho State University, I was pursuing a Pre-Physical Therapy major due to my fascination with the human body. After completing Anatomy and Physiology, I realized I was more interested in the metabolism and thermic effect of food than how the body moves. Once I realized how important fueling your body is, I switch my major to Dietetics and plan on pursuing a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Sports Nutrition.
What has been your favorite experience from your dietetic program and/or internship so far?
My favorite experience in my program has been the faculty-student relationship I have built with my professors. I moved to Idaho on my own and left my support system in Las Vegas, however, once entering the DPD program at ISU, I felt supported and that my professors wanted to watch me succeed. It has been a truly enlightening experience.
Once you become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, what kind of work would you like to do?
I plan on working as a sports dietitian, and hope to work for a professional sports team. I want to help athletes fuel their bodies to push longer, stronger, and achieve overall success.
What words of wisdom would you share with students who are interested in pursuing Dietetics?
