During 2017, the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics will be highlighting our members and what they do as the ‘Nutrition Experts’ for our great state of Idaho. Today we are recognizing:

Linda Morton, MPH, LRDN, IBCLC

Program Coordinator and Supervisor for the Saint Alphonsus Health System’s Family Center – Infant Nutrition and Lactation Program

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, what do you do?  

I work as the Program Coordinator and Supervisor for the Saint Alphonsus Health System’s Family Center – Infant Nutrition and Lactation Program team.

Services and family support include:

-Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes

-Weekly Breastfeeding Support Group

-Warmline Breastfeeding Telephone Support

-IBCLC Certified Lactation Consultants

-Outpatient Lactation Clinic; M-F afternoons

-In-patient lactation consultations and support- 7 days a week

-Lactation Retail

-Employee Breastfeeding Support Program – Pumping rooms for SARMC employees

-Training for staff and other health care providers

-NICU Lactation Family Support

-Community collaboration

-Participating member of the Idaho Breastfeeding Coalition and Central District Breastfeeding Coalition

What are the benefits you have seen from your services in the Idaho community?

Our team works together to provide a safe and supportive place for mothers and families to work towards reaching their infant feeding goals.  Here are a few representative comments from families we have served:

Through comprehensive lactation services and support, our team works with families, health care staff, and community partners to achieve the Nations Healthy People 2020 goals for breastfeeding and for obesity prevention.
